Controversy trails FIRS Boss, Namu’s young tenure

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS), Muhammad Namu is very young on the seat. But already has his hands full of controversy. First, it was his with his predecessor, Babatunde Fowler whom he allegedly accused of ineptitude and now the outrage by several Civil Society Organizations on what they have described as the “ethnic cleansing” going on at the Revenue House.

At a Press Conference of the CSOs this weekend, the Coordinator, Babatunde Micheal who is also the Director of Programs for Conscience Nigeria alerted the Nigerian people, President Muhammad Buhari, President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and the Head of Service, Yemi-Esan to call FIRS FIRS boss to order by directing him to “reverse all illegal recruitments and appointments of unqualified management staff which did not follow our laid down laws as stipulated in the public service rules and his total disregard for the Federal Character principles”.

The coalition threatened that should the FIRS boss fail to act within 7 days to revert the illegal appointments of his ethnic groups into Senior administrative positions, they would have no alternativethan protest to all FIRS offices nationwide, the Presidential Villa, National Assemby and office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
Namu has said his actions bore no ethnic colourations.
