Renowned activist and former Member, House of Representatives, Hon Abdul Oroh has described the current travails of the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki as a classical case of the embattled Governor reaping the fruits of his arrogance in power.
In a chat with dgovscoops, Oroh went philosophical on the Obaseki and Comrade Adams Oshiomole’s debacle this way:
” Governor Abubakar RIMI was smart, handsome, popular, an orator, ambitious and progressive. He was elected Governor of Kano State in 1979 . He got into power by climbing the shoulders of the legendary leader of the talakawa Mallam Aminu Kano. Rimi enjoyed power, he became wealthy and arrogant, and ambition took over. He turned against Mallam Aminu Kano, derided him and sought to claim the leadership of the talakawa. Mallam had no money. He had no taxable income. No official position. No car. He lived in a mud house in Birnin Kano with the talakawa. But he was loved by his people except the haughty, the arrogant, who lived in Nasarawa GRA Kano . They claimed to be technocrats, cosmopolitan and enlightened. They had university degrees from famous universities. RIMI and the technocrats didn’t know they were fighting with their Chi. Allah forbids arrogance and unbridled ambition. At the end, Mallam tapped Sabo Bakin Zuwo , a Senator with little education to challenge RIMI in 1983. Who won? You can guess. The rest as they say is history. Power belongs to God”.
