There was pandemonium yesterday at Banana junction, Orlu, Imo State, as a yet-to-be identified Police Inspector shot an Okada Rider for refusing to give him N50 as a penalty for not wearing his facemask.
According to an eyewitness, “The bikeman was stopped by the police officer who was on a stop-and-search duty and asked why he wsnt wearing a facemask”.
“The officer said that he did not want to hear any other thing that he (okada) man has committed an offense and must pay for it. He stretched out his hand to the okada man to do the needful”.
“But the okada man refused and pleaded that he did not have any money with him and that he will do something next time. The policeman was not satisfied with the response and he cocked his gun and the next thing we heard was a gunshot”.
