The Court of Appeal today dismissed the appeal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) on the judgment of the Industrial Court which reinstated Ayo Olowonihi, a Director in the agency back to work.
The Court of Appeal by this judgment has affirmed the judgment of the Industrial Court which had earlier reinstated Olowonihi back to his position as Director. The February 2019 judgment also voided the EFCC Staff Regulations Handbook, it also voided the purported letter of reinstatement which had demoted Mr Olowonihi to GL 16/7. The Industrial Court had also ruled that the EFCC did not give Mr Olowonihi fair hearing. Today’s judgment affirmed the decisions of the National Industrial Court.
The cross appeal by Mr Olowonihi for the payment of all his entitlements during the period of suspension had earlier been adjourned to October 20th for hearing.
