Following a political crisis that graduated into a coup in Mali, retired Colonel Bah Ndaw was on Friday, September 25, sworn in as the Country’s interim President during a ceremony in Bamako, Reuters reports.

This is coming five weeks after Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta was forced out of the Presidency as the political imbroglio that polarised Mali hit the climax on Tuesday, August 18. Junta leader Colonel Assimi Goita, who led a coup against the former President was also sworn in as the vice President. The former defence Minister has been tasked with heading a 18-month transition back to civilian rule following the military coup.
