A 26-year-old man was on Saturday morning arrested for killing his father and burying him in a shallow grave.
The Anambra State Police Command report states that on the 26/9/2020, at about 6 am, operatives attached to Umunze Division in collaboration with a local vigilante group, arrested Chisom Ogum, aged 26 years of Umuomaku community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The report issued by the Police public relations officer Haruna Mohammed said the suspect allegedly ran amok in circumstances yet-to-be ascertained, attacked, and allegedly killed his own biological father, Christopher Ogum, aged 70 years. of the same address with a shovel and buried him in a shallow grave.
The story had it that the suspect attempted to escape before he was apprehended and beaten to stupor by an angry mob who equally forced him to exhume the corpse of his father from where he buried it.
Meanwhile, police detectives had visited the scene of the crime and have taken the body to the mortuary for autopsy after it was certified dead by a medical doctor at Umunze General Hospital.
The Police also recovered the shovel used in perpetrating the crime as an exhibit and the Commissioner of Police John B.Abang, has ordered for the case to be transferred to the State CID Awka for discreet investigation.
