COURT SETS DEC 15 FOR OKADA BAN CASE IN LAGOS

THE Federal High Court in Lagos will December 15 hear a suit seeking Lagos State’s reversal of its restriction of commercial motorcycles and tricycles, popularly known as okada and Keke Marwa, from parts of the State.

Justice Chuka Obiozor fixed the date yesterday, Tuesday, September 29, following an application by a Lagos-based lawyer, Julius Ajibulu.


Ajibulu is praying the court to order “the immediate resumption of commercial operations and activities of tricyles (Keke NAPEP/ Marwa) and motorcycles (okada) of 50cc-200cc capacity engine on the concerned highways, expressways and bridges in 15 Local Government and Local Development Council areas of Lagos.


He is also seeking N1billion as damages, as well as a public apology in newspapers print.
