A High Court in Oyo State, yesterday, October 5, restrained the family of a former House of Representatives member, the late Temitope Sugar, from dealing in his properties.
Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin made the order while granting an ex-parte application by the late Sugar’s children and his siblings.
The judge granted an order of interim injunction restraining the defendants/respondents or their agents “from intermeddling, selling or dealing with the estate of the late Hon. Temitope Isaac Anthony Olatoye Sugar adversely.”
Justice Olawoyin also granted an order barring the respondents from selling, “disposing or dealing adversely with the residential apartment or any part thereof of the first to fifth claimants situate, lying and being at 7, Adosonia Street, Alalubosa G.R.A. lbadan, Oyo State”.
He further barred them from ejecting or selling a residential apartment at 4, Forest Street, Kolapo lshola G.R.A, Ibadan, belonging to the late Sugar.
The orders, the judge said, are to subsist pending the hearing and determination of the plaintiffs’ motion on notice.
The late Sugar, who represented Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, was shot at Lalupon on March 9, 2019, and died from gunshot injuries.
His children – Bukola, Timileyin, Semilogo, Ireyimika, Boluwatife, Ayomide and Ifeoluwa, all infants – filed the suit through their guardians/administrators of their late father’s estate – Mrs. Oluwabunmi Olatoye and Mrs. Adepeju Olatoye.
Prince Yinka Olatoye and Gabriel Olatoye, who are also administrators of the estate, are the respondents in the suit numbered I/936/2020.
Justice Olawoyin granted the order after the claimants/applicants’ counsel, Dr. Babatunde Oni, moved a motion to that effect
and adjourned till October 12.
