Former Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Captain Muhtar Usman has reportedly passed away.
Reports say the former NCAA DG died after a brief illness in Zaria, Kaduna State on Tuesday, December 1.
A source close to Usman described the death of the former DG as shocking, saying he was rushed to the hospital on Monday, November 30. “I just received the news of his death. He was rushed to a hospital yesterday in Zaria, Kaduna State, before he passed on.”
The burial arrangement is expected to be announced by the family of the deceased. An astute aviator, Captain Usman was born on December 5, 1956. In October 2014, he was appointed the DG of the civil aviation regulatory body where he served for a five-year period before handing over to the present NCAA boss, Capt. Musa Nuhu. Usman was the Commissioner of Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and managing Director of the defunct Nigeria Airways (NA).
