Christmas message from the Vice- Chancellor, University of Calabar

In 2020, we have been confronted with a number of challenges, the likes of which we have never experienced before in the history of the University. Looking back over the last 365 days, we can identify an entirely new demand and approach to teaching, research and university administration.
2020 brought uncertainties for all of us as we go through unpredicted changes to our professional and administrative services occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the economic hardship that came with the pandemic, many of us struggled to survive the financial crunch with several months of withheld salaries. We thank God who has kept us to this moment.
We look forward to the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and an academically engaging 2021 even as we commit ourselves as management to raising the bar of quality University education and research in our dear University of Calabar.
Looking back over the last few months, it is impressive that our University has successfully managed to maintain some level of operations, despite the #EndSARS crisis, difficult circumstances, and continuously changing environment.
I sincerely commend all of us for rising to the demands of this year.
I wish you a healthy start to 2021 while hoping for the return of normalcy next year.
In our celebration, we should always adhere to the COVID-19 protocols and stay safe at all times.
On behalf of the Govering Council and Management of the University of Calabar, I wish you all a happy, successful, and above all, a prosperous year 2021.

Prof. Florence Banku Obi

Vice-Chancellor, University of Calabar
