Enyimba CAF Champions League first round opponent, Al Mereikh of Sudan’s only mission during their reverse fixture in Aba during the week is beating the Nigeria team hands down.
In order to achieve this aim, the management of the Sudanese side has stepped up their motivation by dangling cash rewards to their wards should they leave Aba with win.
Recall that the Sudanese champion defeated Nigeria side 3-0 in the first leg match played at the Al Hilal stadium few weeks ago and the return leg is slated for Aba International Stadium on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
We learnt that the President of the team, Ahmed Taha Al-Tazi, has promised the players $250,000 as cash reward to stop Enyimba International in Aba.
It was this Sudanese team that stopped Enyimba at this stage of the CAF League last season.
The ‘People’s Elephants’ defeated the Burkina Faso side, Rahimo FC 2-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round, while Al Mereikh thrashed AS Otoho of Congo 3-1 over the two legs.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese arrived Port Harcourt international airport Saturday evening via a chartered flight. The team passed the night in Port Harcourt and will leave for Aba today for their CAF Champions League return leg on Wednesday.
