The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) Chief Dan Nwuanyanwu has called on the newly appointed Service Chiefs to earnestly put their acts together to curtail the looming chaos in the country as a result of the insecurity pandemic that has engulfed the nation unabated.

In a release made available by Comrade Segun Jones, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, the Chairman said, it was a relief that, at last, President Muhammadu Buhari listened to the outcry of Nigerians from all walks of life who felt the former Service Chiefs overstayed in office and didn’t do enough to arrest the obvious widespread insecurity in the country despite the humongous financial support for the military to quel the disgraceful level of criminality pervading the land.

According to him, the most important aspect of these appointments is for those saddled with the responsibility of securing lives and property in the country, moreso; the new Service Chiefs to hit the ground running and up their games and crush insecurity in Nigeria.

“It is no more a joking matter, the country is under siege! No matter who was appointed and from wherever. if the issue of insecurity continues on a daily basis as it is now in the next three months, I think the only option is relieve them of their assignments. It should no more be business as usual”.

The issue of insecurity should not be politicized or taken lightly in the light of what has become a daily routine of kidnappings, banditry, rape, herdsmen attacks and the seismic prejudices across the country. It is time to take concrete steps to arrest and prosecute those responsible for this nefarious activities that may further disintegrate the nation and plunge the country into chaos. Therefore, it is still a matter of wait and see, Chief Nwuanyanwu posited.
