Kogi Assembly to hold Valedictory Session in honor of Senator Joseph Obasaju

The Kogi State House of Assembly has announced plans to hold special Valedictory Session in honour of late Senate Joseph Funsho Obasaju who died on the 11th March at his residence in Ilorin Kwara State.
This was disclosed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole at the Monday plenary session during which he announced the death of the former  Second Republic Lawmaker.

According to him, it has become imperative for the State House of Assembly to give him the Honour he deserves as a former member that represented Kabba/Bunu State Constituency at the Old Kwara State House of Assembly between 1979 and 1983, before he was elected into the Senate in 1983 and could only serve for barely three months.
He described Late Senator Obasaju as a distinguished personality and one of the founding fathers of Kogi State, stressing that the Assembly would fix a date close to the burial to hold a Valedictory Session in his honour.
He said as a very senior colleague who served the state diligently, the Assembly will be involved in the burial program, and prayed for the repose of his soul.
A minute silence was observed in his honour.

The burial programme which will be in compliance with COVID-19 protocol is as follows: Service of Songs on 13th April at Rhema Chapel International Churches, Tanke Ilorin by 4pm, Thursday 15th April, Christian Wake at his residence in Aiyeteju Quarters, Kabba by 4pm while the Funeral Service will hold at 16th of April at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kabba by 10am.
