CANNABIS CONTROL BILL 2020 IS IN NIGERIA’S INTEREST-
Rep Maryam Onuoha

Member, House of Representatives representing Isialambano/Onuimo/Okigwe Federal Constituency and sponsor of the Cannabis Control Bill 2020 has come out in defence of the Bill, stating that the nation would be the ultimate beneficiary if passed.
Onuaha speaking on TVC this morning explained what the Bill entails:

“The Cannabis Control bill is a bill of Cultivation, legalisation and trade of Cannabis sativa plant which has over a thousand strain and currently in prohibition list in Nigeria.

">

The Cannabis we are talking about is the non psychoactive.

This bill is to move Cannabis from prohibited list so we can reap the huge benefit in the cannabis market.

">

Globally Cannabis is the next best oil because of the benefits it offers as against the ills associated with oil exploration.

The Cannabis Control bill will help to revitalize the economy as the export of this will increase our foreign investment and there is alot of processes in this, ranging from regulation of farmers, taxing, licensing, renewal fee, etc all these will add up to our revenue.

All we need to do is to put down rules, there is no organisation without laid down rules and procedures for operation as where there is pleasure there is pain, where there are offenders there will be offenses and there will be consequences for people’s action.

">

Anyone to be in line of this business, will be properly guided, properly regulated and have a handout or bylaws or rules, governing each cultivation, processing, exporting and use such that when offenders are caught will be prosecuted and if found guilty will be put behind bars.

People still use this Cannabis illegally, why not legalise it so that we won’t loose revenue from it.

This bill will create over 2 million job opportunities as most young people will go into farming.

What this bill seeks to do is to strengthen our regulatory agencies such that they become empowered to supervise and regulate the use of this substance

I want Nigerians to see the good side of this wonder plant.

While oil exploration pollutes the environment, Cannabis cultivation revatilizes the environment”. and sponsor of the Cannabis Control Bill 2020 has come out in defence of the Bill, stating that the nation would be the ultimate beneficiary if passed.
