FCTA threatens to shut down GT Bank for violation of COVID-19 guildlines
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has threatened to seal up some branches of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) in Abuja, the nation’s capital for allegedly operating without compliance with the established safety protocols for COVID-19.
The FCTA had issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the three affected branches of the bank in Area 3, 11 and Central Business District respectively, to enable them to put the necessary COVID-19 safety measures in place for their customers.
Comrade Ikharo Attah, Chairman, FCT Enforcement Team on COVID-19, issued the warning to the management of the bank in Area 3 Abuja during a monitoring exercise.
He lamented that the lives of customers were being endangered at the bank premises without the observance of physical distancing, canopies and chairs for their customers. He directed the setting up of handwashing facilities at entry points.
He said, “This particular bank (GTB) is not observing COVID-19 safety protocol at all. There is only one thermometer for this large crowd.
“I have been to this particular branch for more than four times and this bank enjoys large crowd and we are happy for them.
