35 Medical Doctors in Kwara State have tested positive to COVID-19, it was revealed yesterday.
The Chairman of
Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the State, Dr. Kolade Solagberu told reporters in Ilorin At this Year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association on Monday, July 13.
He however said the association had not recorded any casualty among its members so far.
Dr. Solagberu told the state’s residents that COVID-19 is real, urging them to disregard rumours saying the pandemic was only a money-making avenue for the government.
The NMA chairman lauded the Federal and state governments for continuous closure of schools, adding that safety should be paramount until the coast is clear.
COVID19 is respecter of no man, we shouldn’t live in fear but indulge in high level hygienic self care; and also get tested to be sure of yourself.
Meanwhile, Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Benue State University (BSU), Prof. Zacharys Gundu has also tested positive for COVID 19.
This is coming barely a week after the BSU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Godwin Achinge, died of the virus.
In a statement in Makurdi, Gundu stated that his sample sent to Abuja for testing returned positive.
He added that he is now in an isolation centre and receiving treatment.
