- Against the backdrop of reports on the social media that the Speaker of Kogi State House Assembly, Hon Mathew Kolawole had eloped to Abuja with the House Mace to avoid impeacment, the House of. Assembly has denied there was no such incident.
Member representing Yagba East State Constituency in the House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Musa Jimoh Omiata said it was all fake news with no iota of truth.
He pointed out that their was no plan to impeach the speaker from office stressing that all members of the House are working together for the interest of the state.
“I wonder where people got the information from. We sat today and the mace was there. The Speaker never absconded with the mace. We don’t have problem in the House. why should people be thinking of impeaching the speaker?
“All members of the House are working together and we are one family. We see no reason why people would be carrying rumours about, we are one family.
“Today during our sitting we had the mace before us and we can’t sit without the mace but you saw the mace. It is not possible for any House of Assembly member to sit and pass a bill without the presence of mace. Today we passed a bill, so that claim that the mace was not with us is the imagination of some people who want to deceive the general public
“Kogi State House of Assembly is intact as ever and the House is devoid of any rancour. We are together as single entity with zeal to move the state forward through our robust legislation,” he said.
