The Kogi State correspondent of The Sun newspaper, Emmanuel Adeyemi who was shot by yet to be identified gunmen during sporadic shooting in Lokoja on Monday, is in stable condition.
DgovScoops reports that this was after a successful surgery carried out on him by a team of medical doctors at one of the hospitals in Lokoja.
A journalist in a release in Lokoja, Monday evening, said: ”the Surgery on Emma Adeyemi who was shot today on his way to NUJ Press centre by yet to be identified gunmen,is successful.
“He came out of the theatre at about 8.30p.m and he is in stable condition. Many thanks to you all for your prayers and other support.”
Adeyemi was said to been shot at the back on his way to the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja when the incident happened in the morning. DgovScoops gathered that the State Council of NUJ quickly rallied round for the money for the operation, in conjunction with other stakeholders for the surgery.
Meanwhile, the uneasy calm that defined the pattern of distribution of palliatives to the people in Lokoja ceased few hours later and normalcy returned to the area Monday afternoon.
