A non-governmental organization, the Righteous On-Lookers Association has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing a former military administrator of Lagos State, Brig. General Muhammad Buba Marwa (rtd), as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the Association Patron, Ahmed Adoke which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday.
The statement described the change in the leadership of NDLEA as a welcome development and also described the appointment of the former military administrator as well conceived and a round peg in a round hole.
While noting the problems of drug addiction among Nigerian youths and it’s consequent effect in the upsurge of crime in the country, the statement said that the NDLEA deserves a personality like Gen. Buba Marwa to reposition the agency for optimum performance.
The statement then called on the Federal Government to mobilise the agency financially to recruit more hands and deploy facilities to combat drug-induced crimes in the country.
While congratulating the new NDLEA boss, the statement urged him to use his wealth of experience both as a military and a public officer to improve tremendously on the fortune of the agency.
